01. Apple iPad Air (5th Gen, 2022)
The best tablet for students overall
Specifications
Weight: 462g
Dimensions: 9.74 * 7.02 Dimensions: 9.74 x 7.02 0.24 inches

We’re huge fans of the new 2020 iPad Air, and we had rated it the best tablet to use for education from the moment it was released. The new Apple iPad Air (5th Gen, 2022) has taken the crown of its predecessor by adding an additional level of performance that is close to creating an iPad Pro. It’s a sleek, powerful and light tablet. It’s now with Apple’s M1 chip which is the major improvement over its predecessor.
When we examined it, we noticed that the processor update makes the iPad Air capable of handling anything that’s asked of it, including the most popular arts applications like Procreate and the best tools for video edit. In light of the fact that it’s more affordable than the iPad Pro, for us this makes it the best tablet for students.
The screen we tested proved to be bright and clear with a front-facing camera and USB-C have been improved from the earlier models (there’s also now the possibility of 5G connectivity). Additionally, the redesigned iPadOS introduces desktop workflows, which include multiple windows to work in that will improve productivity. 02. iPad Mini (6th Gen, 2021)
The ideal tablet for students to mobile use
SPECIFICATIONS
Weight: 293g
Dimensions: 195.4×134.8×6.3mm
Screen dimension: 8.3-inch IPS LCD

Since the introduction of Apple Pencil support the iPad Mini has been a firm choice for us, and the update in September 2021 made it an even better option, bringing Apple Pencil 2 compatibility. Additionally, it received a processor boost that makes it an impressively powerful gadget.
This version is based upon a reworked model of the A15 Bionic chip that is capable of delivering powerful processing, and while some users might be frustrated because of the only 4GB of RAM the reality is that this should be sufficient for what you need to complete with this screen. The slim size and lightweight (less more than 300g) makes this tablet perfect to take on the road and on public transport for instance.
There’s a very gratifying USB-C port, which provides many possibilities. When we examined the tablet, it tried it using a USB digital audio converter to listen to Apple’s Lossless Hi-Res music, and using a USB mic to record the voiceover. The display is bigger than the previous iPad Mini, even though the overall body is smaller having a 3×2 aspect ratio. We found the brightness to be very consistent making it comfortable to use for long periods and we were impressed with the colour accuracy. While you’re paying for a premium Apple price, we feel that the Mini iPad 2021 provides an excellent value for money.
03. iPad Pro 12.9 (2021)
The ideal tablet for students those who are taking courses that require creativity.

The major appeal of iPad Mini is its portability it’s a great tablet for traveling, but if you’re area is one that requires more the power (and has a larger budget) we recommend buying the iPad Pro 12.9 (2021) as the top tablet for students for those taking courses that require creativity. It is Apple’s most powerful tablet, it doesn’t come with any student-friendly pricing however, you’ll get an iPad that can take on even the most demanding work in design and graphics with the power of a MacBook. Add two keyboards and a mouse or serve as a portable laptop.
This HDR display is the most impressive I’ve come across on tablet with a 120Hz refresh rate and an aspect ratio of 2048 pixels x 2732. Its peak brightness is 1,600 nits and with better control of local dimming, it’s more pleasant to gaze at for long periods. We discovered that dark areas contain more nuance and depth to them, leading to an improved and more precise image . It’s great for editing video and photos.
Of course, we’re hesitant to recommend this as the top tablet for students due to the price, and we’d say it’s only worth splashing out on if you really need the specs you need to run power-hungry editing apps. It is sure to impress.
04. Surface Pro 9
The perfect tablet for people who want to get a desktop
Specifications
Weight: 0.9g
Dimensions 28.7 * 20.8 0.93 cm. 0.93 cm

Screen size: 13-inch
Microsoft Surface Pro 9 Microsoft Surface pro 9 is a robust tablet that is, just like the iPad Pro, can be transformed into a solid desktop computer simply by adding the cover/keyboard combination. The main thing to be aware of is the build . The Intel i5 and i7 models are high-end models that are extremely powerful, while it’s the 5G SQ3 model was designed to last and has a battery life of just a few hours, and thus lacks the power to run the most complex software.
For the money I’d pick this model. Intel i5 model that can run full-featured software like Photoshop with ease . It can also be coupled with the superior Surface Pro stylus and keyboard to complete the package. Our Surface Pro 9 review found it to be a great choice if you want to replace your laptop with an efficient and flexible tablet (that’s also the size of a laptop) as well as being tied to Windows Surface Pro 9, then Surface Pro 9 is an fantastic choice.
If you’re looking for a decent web-browsing, cloud-based tablet that can be used for online classes and writing you, this 5G model is good (though there are other tablets on this list that can perform this function as well).
No matter which model you decide to buy – again, opt for the Intel models – the Surface Pro 9 is a quality tablet, with excellent display and a sleek and smooth design. A nice feature is this older Surface Pro can use the stylus and keyboard from Microsoft’s Surface Pro 8, saving you money on upgrades.
05. Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra
The best large-screen Android tablet ideal for kids
SPECIFICATIONS
Weight: 726g
Dimensions 326.4 inches x 208.6 x 5.5mm
Screen size: 14.6-inch
Storage: 128GB – 512GB
If you’re looking to buy an Android tablet, and require lots of power, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra delivers it at an extremely affordable price, considering its specifications. It has a huge display for a tablet at 14.6 in. It is the size of the iPad Pro. This makes it an ideal option for people looking for a sketch or notepad with the S Pen stylus, which is also included as a standard which makes it a great value for money for a high-end tablet.
You can build up to fairly powerful configurations too, with as much as 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage. Of however, the dimensions make it heavier than many of the choices on our list of the top tablets designed for students. However, it is not that portable. But we loved the slimand sleek design when we looked at the tablet, as well as found the large, vibrant screen amazing for watching video and even editing photographs. If you don’t require these specs on the Ultra model, you may want to think about the less expensive standard Tab S8.
Be aware that there have been shortages in the US due to the high demand, however, Samsung’s Samsung store does have the product in stock. Additionally, there are imported alternatives available on Amazon.
